Archipelago Images is the website of Christophe Mason-Parker, marine conservationist and photographer. Chris grew up with a fascination for the ocean born from weekends at the seaside and BBC wildlife documentaries. The natural progression was to complete a university degree in aquatic biology, but it was not until later in life that he learned to dive. Joining a volunteer expedition in the Philippines in 2006, Chris was immediately hooked and has never looked back. He has since worked on marine research expeditions around the world where he has been lucky enough to witness some of the planet's most amazing flora and fauna.
His travels have taken him throughout SE Asia, from the Philippines to Thailand, and Indonesia to Malaysia. Following a year working in Mexico for the international community development and conservation organisation Global Vision International (GVI), Chris transferred to Seychelles, becoming GVI's Regional Director for Africa and Europe. In 2020 he took on the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Marine Conservation Society Seychelles and he continues to promote marine conservation awareness and photograph the huge diversity of marine and terrestrial organisms of the Indian Ocean.
Chris is a co-founder of the Sea Turtle Friends of Seychelles (STFS), an environmental association charged with raising awareness of issues relating to marine turtles. STFS is responsible for the organisation of the Seychelles Sea Turtle Festival, now in it's 10th year, the annual event brings together local NGOs, government departments and the general public to promote sea turtle conservation and education. Chris' articles and images have appeared in numerous international publications. In 2015 he published his first book 'Underwater Guide to Seychelles', which showcases the marine fauna of the Seychelles granitic islands. This was followed in 2018 by the 'Underwater Eden', a coffee table book once again featuring Seychelles diverse marine life. He has since gone on to publish further titles with a focus on Seychelles wildlife and is now busy working on new projects.
